Public Memorial Place
Abstract
The aim of this project was to investigate the need for and develop a concept for a Public Memorial place of lost avatars. Although avatars never die in SL, some of them disappear from the game for different reasons, often leaving an empty space behind. As in First Life, could it be a good thing to have a public memorial place, to make it possible to mourn avatars and celebrate the life lived? How we make monuments to remember and honour lost personalities is essential in this project, and how it can be represented in SL is an interesting question.
